Call for Concern©

A Safety Service for all In-Patients    

Call for Concern© is an inpatient safety service for deteriorating patients, the aim is to empower and support patients and their families or carers to escalate their concerns.  If you are concerned a patient’s condition is deteriorating and  it is not being adequately recognised by the ward team, you can call the Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT) for help and advice.

Discuss your concern with the Nurse in charge of the ward and ask for a review.  

Step Two

If your concerns have not resolved and you are still worried, call the Critical Care Outreach Team directly on 07974598810. This service is available 24 hours a day seven days a week.  

Step Three

The Critical Care Outreach Team will require some basic information:  

  1. Patient’s name  
  2. Ward location
  3.  An overview of the concern
  4.  Your name, contact details and your relationship to the patient.  

The Critical Care Outreach Team aims to answer your calls without delay, however, on occasions we may be dealing with other emergencies which may delay our response. We advise you to leave a message, and the team will call you back.  

Please do not feel worried that using the Call for Concern© service will negatively impact the patients care, we recognise that you may see a change and or deterioration in them, and we value that input.  

When not to make a Call 4 Concern© call:  
  • Hospital food  
  • Parking  
  • Or any other general issues.
