Cancer

In May 2022, the Boards of KGH and NGH approved the UHN Group clinical strategy which describes the future for acute clinical services across Northamptonshire, including the creation of a Cancer Centre of Excellence led by NGH.  

  

We need to change the way we provide cancer services to meet growing demand, improve patient experience, use our university hospital status to improve research and education, and recruit and retain staff in our area. This will be in partnership with our community teams and bring care closer to home through integration and by repatriating some specialist activity.

  

On 8 July 2022, we held the first conference to bring together all cancer leads from both Trusts to define in more detail what a centre of excellence would mean and start to develop a more detailed strategy.

  

April 2023 present the strategy to the Boards of both Trusts for approval.
