Kettering General Hospital is calling for local residents to have their say in the future of our hospital by standing for election as a Public Governor. 

Anyone from North Northamptonshire (the Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, Rushden areas) can stand for election to become a Public Governor in their local area if they are over 16.

We want to attract candidates from all ethnicities, faiths, genders, ages, disabilities and community groups to ensure our local areas are well represented.

We were delighted to welcome the new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, the Rt Hon Steve Barclay MP, to Kettering General Hospital on July 22, 2022, to learn more about how we are preparing for our hospital rebuild.

The Secretary of State met senior executives at the hospital and received a short presentation on our rebuild plans which are part of the Government’s New Hospital Programme.

Patients and staff at Kettering General Hospital are supporting important research into new ways of diagnosing cancer.

As the NHS celebrates its 74^th birthday today (Tuesday, July 5) NHS England is highlighting some of the great work the NHS undertakes.

One aspect of that work is a Pilot Study being undertaken across the country on the use of the Cytosponge – a new way of carrying out testing for cancer of the oesophagus.

Dr Muthi Kasimanickham is leading on testing at Kettering General Hospital where, since November 2021, there have been about 60 patients who have had the procedure and are taking part in the pilot.
