From Monday 17 March Car Park D outside the Treatment Centre will be closed temporarily

While Car Park D is closed:-

  • The assisted parking bays on the road up to the Treatment Centre, Zone G, will be inaccessible
  • Patients will still be able to be dropped off/collected outside the Treatment Centre and at the entrance/exit of Zone C by Pathology Traffic marshals will be on duty during the day to assist drivers
  • Visitor parking spaces will not be reduced; however, some will be relocated to Car Park F
  • Staff parking will be redirected to other locations on-site.

During this time, traffic diversions will be in place and a system of two-way traffic will be in operation, where previously this was one way traffic. The road up to Pathology and behind the stores will be managed by traffic wardens during normal working hours to assist drivers and help ease the flow of traffic for visitors, staff and delivery vehicles. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue with our efforts to improve Kettering General Hospital’s infrastructure. This work is a key step in our commitment to Building a Better KGH.

We are committed to transforming our site to provide outstanding facilities for both visitors and colleagues. The first step in this journey is the construction of a new Energy Centre, which will play a crucial role in helping the hospital achieve its goal of reaching net carbon zero by 2040.

Work on the new Energy Centre is set to began in early September 2024. These works will be located at the bottom of the hospital site and requires Car Park D to be closed while it is dug up to accommodate essential utility pipe relocation. Anticipated works will last for eight weeks.  As a result, we will be closing and moving some visitor and staff parking spaces to alternative car parks.

While these necessary changes and construction works may lead to increased traffic within the hospital grounds, we are working hard to minimise disruption and ensure that patient and visitor parking remains unaffected.

Car Parking at Kettering General Hospital

A drop off/pickup point can be found in Car Park A. You can go into the car park and exit the car park within 15 minutes the barrier will raise, and you will not be charged.  If you are in the car park longer than 15 minutes, you will be charged the appropriate fee.
 
In an emergency or in exceptional circumstances, such as where a patient has very limited mobility, drivers may drop-off directly outside the Outpatients Department using the emergency vehicle access route then go and park.

You may need to allow extra time for your journey as queuing for the car parks can occur at peak times.

Car Park A 

Is disabled car parking spaces only. Once parked, please take your valid Blue Badge to the Car Park Office and advise them of your registration number. You will then receive free parking for the duration of the stay.
 
A specific motorcycle bay is located in Car Park A, with parking for 5 motorcycles; you will receive free parking.

Car Park B 

Has a height Restriction of 2.1m.
It has 4 Blue Badge spaces, 221 spaces on the lower deck.
The upper deck is for staff with parking permits only.

Here’s how it works:

When arriving at Car Park B your car registration number is captured automatically. Before leaving the car park you need to enter your registration number  at the paying station before paying.
  1. As you approach the entrance of the car park, the barrier will raise automatically, and your registration number will be read
  2. Park your vehicle as usual
  3. When you are ready to leave, please pay at one of the pay stations by entering your registration number and following the on-screen instructions. You can pay by cash or card (including contactless)
  4. Please return to your car immediately and proceed to the exit
  5. The exit barrier will automatically raise once your registration number and payment has been verified.

Other car parks are available:

  • Outside the Treatment Centre which are Pay & Display parking.
  • Adjacent to Rothwell Road which are Pay & Display parking.
You can pay by cash or card. 

There is a 30 minute drop off area in front on Rockingham Wing.

Concessions

Complex Treatment

If attending Lilford Ward, Centenary Wing or Chemotherapy Supportive Treatment Unit (CSSTU) for complex treatment,please discuss with the ward clerk.  Collect a concessionary slip and take it to the Car Park Office in Car Park A to claim a concessionary charge.

Frequent Treatment

If attending Outpatients or Day Case for frequent treatments in a 7 day period, a weekly concessionary ticket can be purchased at Car Park A.  It will cost £12 upon production of a ward or departmental confirmation.

Long Inpatient Stays

If a patient is expected to have a stay of 7 or more days, a weekly concessionary ticket can be purchased at Car Park A.  It will cost £12 upon production of a ward or departmental confirmation.

Patient Buggy Service from hospital car parks to entrances located around the site

 Outdoor patient buggy service and volunteer driver

Our outdoor buggy service supports less able patients to access all hospital car parks and entrances located around the site.  The service is free to use and is supported by a team of trained buggy drivers from our Volunteer Service. 

To arrange a pickup or the return journey please call: 07976 198127. The service operates Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm excluding bank holidays (subject to volunteer availability).

When calling please state the pickup location, your destination and number of passengers (max 2).

The service is unable to:-

  • transport wheelchairs
  • take passengers who are unable to step on to the buggy unaided 
  • transport children under the age of 12
