Community Diagnostic Centres

Community Diagnostic Centres (CDCs) provide a range of tests and checks away from our main hospital sites, helping patients access services more conveniently and closer to home.

Bringing diagnostic services together in community locations can help us diagnose conditions earlier and get people the treatment or support they need sooner. It also creates additional capacity outside our hospitals, helping hospital teams focus on patients who need urgent and specialist care.

Across Northamptonshire, we are continuing to develop our network of Community Diagnostic Centres to make it easier for more people to access the tests and investigations they need.

Building on our community diagnostic services in Corby and Northampton, we are also developing plans for a new Community Diagnostic Centre and Elective Surgery Hub in Wellingborough. We have identified a preferred site, and are currently assessing its feasibility to accommodate future healthcare facilities, including an elective surgical hub and a new community diagnostic centre. 

The project remains at an early stage. Any future development would be subject to detailed feasibility assessments, business cases and the relevant approvals process which UHN is actively progressing. 

Our focus remains on ensuring local people can access high-quality care as quickly and conveniently as possible, closer to their homes without needing to visit our acute hospital sites. We will provide further updates as plans progress.
