University Hospitals of Northamptonshire Board confirms its commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and to supporting the Armed Forces community
The University Hospitals of Northamptonshire (UHN) Board confirms its commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and to supporting the Armed Forces community. This includes people who are currently serving, reservists, veterans and their families. We support them both as patients and colleagues.
This commitment is part of our wider ambition to provide safe, compassionate and high-quality care, and to be a great place to work. By creating opportunities, using new ideas and working with partners, we will help strengthen local health and care services for everyone.
We will meet Care Quality Commission expectations for fair and inclusive care, and we will meet our moral and legal duties under the Armed Forces Covenant. Our three year Armed Forces Strategy sets out clear priorities. These include identifying people from the Armed Forces community in a consistent way and using information and data to improve their experiences and health outcomes.
We are committed to the aim of making sure no one from the Armed Forces community is disadvantaged when accessing NHS services, and special consideration is given, where appropriate, particularly for those who have been injured or bereaved as a result of their service.
We also want to attract people leaving the Armed Forces and their families to work at UHN. We recognise the skills, experience and values they bring.
Across Northamptonshire, we will lead by example. We will work with partners and support other organisations to put the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant into practice. We will take responsibility for this work and demonstrate our commitment through ongoing and meaningful action.
