Osteoporosis Service

The osteoporosis service cares for people with weak bones. Osteoporosis service falls under the Rheumatology department. The department is led by a team of consultant rheumatologist supported by senior radiographer in bone densitometry and osteoporosis nurse. 

Patients are referred in to osteoporosis service from the fracture clinic, GP, gastroenterology, care of the elderly, inpatients and outpatients.

We have a dedicated osteoporosis nurse who provides face to face and telephone advice regarding medication.

Our Clinics

The bone density DXA scans service runs on Tuesday afternoons and Wednesdays 9.00am to 5.00pm

What to bring to your appointment

List of medications currently taking

If possible, wear clothes that do not have metal zips, fasteners, studs, hooks and buttons. Before your scan might be asked to change into a hospital gown.
