Based on Skylark Ward, the Play Team create a child friending and welcoming environment. Their aim is to make a clinical setting feel a little less daunting for their patients.
The Play Team are made up of Health Play Specialists, who are registered professionals. By using play they help babies, children and young people understand their illness and treatment.
The Play Team support both the patient and their families through the healthcare journey.
Skylark Ward have a separate playroom and sensory room. Both spaces are wheelchair friendly. The playroom can also accommodate a paediatric bed or patients with standing frames Giving children and young people who are able to, to play away from their bedspace.

The Play team is made up of 8 Health Play Specialists. One of the Play Team will meet with all inpatients to offer play either at the bedside, playroom or the sensory room.
Who between them provide this service, which available 7 days a week; between 7.00am to 7.30pm including Bank Holidays.
