Health and Wellbeing

Looking after your health and wellbeing is important when you have received a cancer diagnosis.

This can take many forms including getting yourself in the best shape before treatment starts - often called ‘prehab’ - which could mean stopping smoking before surgery, ensuring your dietary intake is optimum and keeping yourself physically active.

Rehabilitation is an important factor once you have completed treatment. While face-to-face options are not currently available due to the coronavirus pandemic you can access information online (see below), speak to your Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or telephone the team at the Macmillan Information and Support Service at Kettering General Hospital on: (01536) 493888 or the Cancer Information Centre at Northampton General Hospital on (01604) 544211.

The Northants Cancer Guide :  Provides information and support on a range of topics from help with practical needs through to emotional concerns with links to organisations that may be able to offer help.

Health and Wellbeing Support :  Videos and presentations are available to help you with a range of issues.  The website is being added to regularly as we increase the number of topics covered.  This work is being progressed as quickly as possible.
