Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) Service

The Pneumonia Service has developed a new community acquired pneumonia (CAP) nurse specialist service, offering an inpatient service with outpatient clinic follow ups, for advice, support and management of pneumonia and other conditions.
 
The team identify in-patients diagnosed with CAP, and those who present with chest infection, COVID-19, lower respiratory tract infection or suspected CAP. The team will work in partnership with the senior respiratory consultants and other medical professionals to support in the diagnosis, through to clinical outpatient follow up after discharge.
 
Our specialist nurses provide -:
  • Patients with information and education
  • Where needed, telephone support for patients post discharge
  • Nurse led CAP review outpatient clinics
