Nuclear Medicine Department

We provide a range of nuclear medicine diagnostic examinations scans.

We use Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography SPECT and Computed Tomography CT scanners to take detailed pictures of the inside of your body. This service is for both adults and children.

Our Services

  • Bones scans
  • Kidney scans (DSMA and Renogram)
  • Endocrine scans (Thyroid and Parathyroid)
  • Breast surgery (Sentinel Lymph Node injections)

Our Clinics

Clinics take place Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 5.00pm (excluding bank holidays).

What to wear when coming to your appointment

If possible, please wear loose comfortable clothes, as you may be able to wear these during the scan. Try to avoid wearing jewellery and clothes containing metal (such as zips), as these will need to be removed and you will be provided with a gown.

What to bring to your appointment

  • List of medications for thyroid scans
  • Food, drink and medication if you choose to stay for the interim hours between your injection and the scan

It is advisable to attend by yourself or with just one companion due to the radiation.

If you are or may be pregnant or are breast feeding, please contact the nuclear medicine department in advance for further advice.
