It's National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day and we're celebrating and recognising our colleagues in this department.

Across both Kettering General and Northampton General we employ nearly 1000 colleagues in Estates and Facilities, which is the largest staff group employed within a single directorate.

There are nearly 50 different roles within this division from porters and housekeeping to chefs and safety officers and they are all vital to help us to provide the best possible care across our hospitals.

Did you know?

• Our catering team prepares a whopping (and tasty) 89,600 meals each month - covering various dietary needs
• Our housekeeping team clean a total of 187,595m2 across our sites - this is the same as around 27 Premier League football pitches
• Over a month our porters undertake 23,200 jobs across our hospital sites. These include portering tasks; patient moves and routine site jobs
• Estates and Facilities colleagues are called out to 1,950 maintenance jobs per month. These are completed alongside both routine and planned maintenance tasks
• Across UHN we manage over 260.5 tonnes of waste per month - that's the equivalent of two blue whales
