Kettering General Hospital has been shortlisted for a national nursing award for the way in which it has supported mothers whose children have been taken into care.

The Trust is on the shortlist for the Nursing Times Awards 2019 in the Enhancing Patient Dignity category for the way its Safeguarding Team has introduced ‘Not Forgotten Boxes’ for women in this distressing situation.

The boxes contain hand and foot prints, a photo frame, baby blanket, teddy, and information on support services and advice for mothers and their families.

Friends and colleagues say a fond farewell to Consultant Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon, Mr Robin Lee, who retired on June 28 after serving KGH for 31 years.

Dedicated hospital gardener Ralph Howe was honoured on Friday, June 28, for an amazing 60 years of service to Kettering General Hospital.

He was presented with a long service award to mark his extraordinary achievement – which also makes him one of the NHS’s longest serving employees.

Patients who stay overnight on Kettering General Hospital’s wards have scored the Trust eight out of possible ten for the overall experience of care they receive.

That was a finding in the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) 2018 National Inpatient Survey published today (Thursday, June 20).

The survey measures more than 60 aspects of the experience of being a patient staying in hospital for at least one night.

Six nurses from Kettering General Hospital are travelling to Uganda to support a local hospital in an area of extreme poverty.

They are part of a 12-strong team who will be sharing their expertise and skills at the 250-bed not-for-profit Kisiizi Hospital near Rukungiri in south west Uganda from June 22- July 7, 2019.
