From today (Tuesday, November 12) staff at Kettering General Hospital are going to show their support for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) community by wearing distinctive enamel badges.

The Trust is launching NHS Rainbow Badges for staff who want to demonstrate to members of the LGBTQ community that their feelings and sexual or gender identity will be respected during their time at the hospital.

Plans to dramatically improve the facilities at Kettering General Hospital for families who have suffered the trauma of losing their baby have been unveiled.

Today (Wednesday, November 6), the Trust is launching a £1 million public fundraising campaign - called the Twinkling Stars Appeal - to set up a brand new bereavement suite adjacent to the maternity unit.

A Treatment Room on Geddington Ward has been named in memory of much loved and well respected KGH nurse.

The official opening of the Caren Ashcroft Treatment Room was held on November 4, 2019, in the presence of Caren’s daughter Georgie, her six-month-old grandson Harry Walpole, and Caren’s close KGH friends.

Staff Nurse Caren Ashcroft, from Mawsley, sadly died in a road accident on Sunday, June 7, 2015.

She had been a nurse at KGH for 30 years and was very well known and respected. She had worked in various areas across the Trust, most recently in orthopaedics and surgery in Geddington Ward where she served from its opening in 2007-2015.

Kettering General Hospital’s bid for a £46m Urgent Care Hub for North Northamptonshire has been approved by the Government.

The announcement was made by Health Minister Edward Argar MP today (Wednesday October 23, 2019) in Westminster Hall in the Houses of Parliament.

He made the announcement in response to issues raised by Kettering MP Philip Hollobone in a debate on health and social care this morning.

Governor Election Results

The results of the Trust’s Elections to its Council of Governors have now been returned.

Elections were held between September 24 and October 17 with results returned on October 18, 2019.

The Elections were for seats to represent Kettering (1), Corby (3), Wellingborough (1), East Northamptonshire (1) and Rest of UK (1).

Contested seats were:

• Kettering Constituency – Elected – Gail Chapman.
• East Northamptonshire Constituency – Elected – Angela Mason
