KGH midwife and doctor in finals of bereavement care awards

Bereavement Midwife Carolyn Rowbotham and doctor  Mrs Kirsty Adcock awards

A midwife and a doctor at Kettering General Hospital have been nominated for two bereavement awards by grateful families.

Carolyn Rowbotham has been shortlisted to the finals of the Bereavement Midwife of the Year Award by the Mariposa Trust - a national charity working with baby loss and bereavement.

And Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant Mrs Kirsty Adcock is shortlisted for Obstetrics and Gynaecology Doctor of the Year.

KGH Radio - A community radio station

KGH Radio is a community radio station based within our hospital. Their aim is to bring patients, colleagues, friends and families together through their on-air content.
 
KGH Radio started broadcasting just before Christmas 2019 from a studio in the lower ground level of the hospital. Last week the studios re-opened after a refurbishment.

CQC recognise maternity staff as compassionate and patient centred

A CQC inspection of maternity services at Kettering General Hospital’s found hard working teams focussed on the needs of families and improving the care they receive, but says services require further improvements in a report published today (March 7, 2024).

The inspection took place in October 2023 as part of the national programme which inspects all hospitals providing maternity services.

KGH helps trailblaze NHS plans to listen to concerns about patients

Trailblazing schemes at both Kettering and Northampton general hospitals support a new NHS plan to listen more carefully to the families of sick patients.
 
On February 21 NHS England announced a plan to roll-out ‘Martha’s Rules’ to at least 100 NHS sites to give patients and families/carers access to a critical care team for a second opinion if a patient may be deteriorating.
 
Both KGH and NGH are delivering Call4Concern schemes.

Memorial garden opens for our amazing Ralph

A memorial garden was opened on February 26 at Kettering General Hospital as a tribute to its longest-ever serving employee.

Much-loved groundskeeper and gardener Ralph Howe MBE died on June 13 last year (2023) aged 81 after working at the hospital for 64 years of continuous service.

Tributes poured in for Ralph who, over the years, was known to thousands of staff and patients as an enthusiastic, warm, and friendly man who worked in all weathers to keep the hospital’s 33-acre site in excellent condition.

New Chief Digital Information Officer for provider collaborative

A new Chief Digital Information Officer has been appointed to provide world-class digital services across both University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group (UHN) and University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust (UHL). Group Chief Digital Information Officer, Will Monaghan, joins us in the summer and will work with both UHN and UHL CDIOs to transform care for the 2.2 million patients served by the Trusts through better use of digital, data and technology.
