Consultant cardiologists at Kettering General Hospital are carrying out a new kind of heart procedure for the first time in Northamptonshire.

  The procedure is called a Coronary Sinus Reducer Implantation – which can be used when all conventional treatments for angina (chest pain caused by restricted blood flow to heart muscle) have failed.

The Macmillan Cancer Support Centre at Kettering General Hospital has received a quality assessment award plaque for the way it supports people living with cancer.

The centre – which has been operating since May 2022 - achieved the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) last year and since then has been going from strength-to-strength.

Kettering General Hospital (KGH) has been awarded two sets of national accreditations for the way it has improved care and support for Armed Forces colleagues and patients.

Three members of our UHN Digital team have won their categories in the national Digital Health Networks awards.

Natasha Chare, Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) has won CIO of the Year, Ramandeep Kaur, Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), has won CCIO of the Year, and Tosin Akinlabi, Clinical Safety Officer, has won Rising Star of the Year.

A healthcare assistant who went the extra mile to support a worried surgical patient has received a ROSE Award from Kettering General Hospital.

Michelle Dorrington, who works on Deene A ward, received the award for the kind and thoughtful way she helped a patient to relax after being in pain and feeling overwhelmed.

Today we welcomed Rosie Wrighting, newly elected Labour MP for Kettering. We were pleased to discuss our new hospital plans and hopes for the future development of our hospital, including our new energy centre. 

Kettering General Hospital is pioneering new ways of doing some ear, nose, and throat (ENT) procedures under local anaesthetic enabling more patients to benefit from them.

The pioneering work of one of our hospital consultants in the 1960s is being remembered as he developed the first Intensive Care Unit in England at KGH. 

More than 300 memorial crosses laid by the relative of a patient lost to Covid-19 have been interred at Kettering General Hospital’s Pocket Park.
