Cancer bell donated to KGH's urology centre

Cancer patient Bill rings the bell to end his treatment

A man who has been battling bladder cancer for four years has donated a completion of treatment bell to the urology centre at Kettering General Hospital.

  And on Tuesday, February 3, Bill Clarke, 81, from Loddington, was the first patient to ring that bell as he completed his final chemotherapy treatment at the unit, based inside the hospital’s Treatment Centre.

  Bill, a retired service engineer and a great grandfather with three children and four grandchildren, and one great granddaughter, decided that having a bell to ring would be a good way to mark the end of his treatment.

Kettering General Hospital is supporting research into the reasons why black men do not always come forward for prostate cancer testing.

Our research team is looking to contact black men and their families to find more about the stigma associated with prostate cancer, why this is the case, and what would change people’s minds.

The hospital is supporting phase 1 of the national study which aims to carry out interviews and surveys with volunteers to include black men with prostate cancer, their partners and immediate families, and black men over 40 without prostate cancer.

Oh baby our roadshow is here again

Baby Roadshow

A pregnancy and baby road show is being hosted by Kettering General Hospital to help hundreds of parents-to-be to prepare for their big day and subsequently care for their baby.

  The event  on Thursday, January 15,  will provide a huge range of advice on all aspects of pregnancy and baby care.

  It is being held  at The Hall@KGH (the recreation hall next to car park B at the main KGH site) from 6pm-8pm.   Concessionary £1 car parking will be available.
