Our successful dementia awareness event

Nadia Tobierre Dementia Nurse, promoting Dementia Awareness Open Day Monday 13 May

We would like to say thank you to everyone who came to our Dementia awareness event at the Corn Market Hall in Kettering earlier this week.

To support national Dementia Awareness Week, we brought together several local dementia support organisations and charities; alongside departments from the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire (UHN).

Arranged by our Dementia Specialist Nurse Nadia, it was important to bring together local groups alongside departments from our hospital to offer advice and guidance.

Nadia said: “We know that patients with dementia struggle and we want to show that support is available. I think bringing everybody together makes a huge difference because then we know who we can call on for support and who we can signpost patients and families to”.

The event on Tuesday was well supported by our local community, including the Mayor of Kettering.

We’d especially like to thank Barchester health, Home Instead and Event Night who kindly donated refreshments and decorations on the day.

When you feel a little bit overwhelmed is incredibly important. We hope those who attended feel armed with the resources they need”.
