New Health Secretary visits KGH to see our plans for hospital rebuild

Secretary of State Visit
We were delighted to welcome the new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, the Rt Hon Steve Barclay MP, to Kettering General Hospital on  July 22, 2022, to learn more about how we are preparing for our hospital rebuild.

The Secretary of State met senior executives at the hospital and received a short presentation on our rebuild plans which are part of the Government’s New Hospital Programme.

After the presentation he visited the hospital’s A&E department and met doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals working in the department.

Next was a visit to our temporary boilers which are set to be replaced as part of enabling works for the hospital rebuild.

Finally he met staff and volunteers in our We Care Café - set up at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic to help staff rest and relax in their breaks.

He was accompanied on his visit by local MPs Philip Hollobone (Kettering), Peter Bone (Wellingborough) and Tom Pursglove (Corby) who have all been making the case for the need for a rebuild on our hospital site which is 125 years old this year.
