KGH Maternity Department Says Thank You For Childrens Artwork

Staff from Rockingham Wing with the images
During the height of the pandemic, we were overwhelmed by the support we received from our local community.

For those younger and more artistic members of the community they supported us by writing to us and sending us drawings.
Children's Artwork in Rockingham Wing
We had reams of rainbows, a slew of NHS superheroes and dozens of pictures of doctors and nurses. All of them appreciated by the staff across our Trust.

We had so many lovely pieces of artwork, that we were able to decorate the windows of the Rockingham Wing reception (our maternity wing).

“The artwork we received from local children and young people really brightened not only our windows, but also our hearts” says Kim Attley, Interim Head of Midwifery.

“The artwork has cheered-up our reception area since 2020. As we move on and the lockdown rules ease, we thought it was the right time to remove the pictures from our reception windows”

The pictures will be kept; as we treasure the pictures sent into us during the pandemic.

“We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to draw, colour and paint for us” says Kim.

We will be scanning them as a keepsake of one of the most challenging periods of our history. The pictures will be removed later this week and scanned and stored.
