Freedom to Speak Up National Guardian Dr Henrietta Hughes visits KGH

NHS National Freedom to Speak Up Guardian Dr Henrietta Huges with KGH FTSU Champion Susan Clennett

Today, 14 February, the NHS’s Freedom to Speak Up National Guardian,  Dr Henrietta Hughes, visited KGH.

She spoke to us about national best practice in this area and we shared some of the work we have done to promote Freedom to Speak Up at KGH including drop-in surgeries, recruiting FTSU champions across the Trust and our development plans.

Dr Hughes (pictured centre in green) met with the Trust’s Chief Executive, Simon Weldon, KGH’s Freedom to Speak Up Guardian, Susan Clennett, Board Members, our Senior Independent Director for Speaking Up and our existing Freedom to Speak Up champions.

The role of the National Guardian Officer is to advise NHS trusts and Freedom To Speak Up Guardians on best practice to encourage and enable staff to speak up safely within their own workplaces about any issues of concern. https://www.cqc.org.uk/national-guardians-office/content/frequently-asked-questions-about-national-guardian
