Our nurse on Florence Nightingale course

Intensive Care Unit Staff Nurse Mairead McNally has attended the prestigious Florence Nightingale Leadership Programme which aims to develop the next generation of NHS leaders.

She was one of 30 nurses from across the country selected by their organisations to take part in the leadership programme held in London by the Florence Nightingale Foundation.

Mairead, from Corby, has worked at KGH since qualifying as a nurse in 2012 and for the last five years has worked in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

In order to qualify as KGH’s candidate for the programme she was chosen from a shortlist of nominations put forward by our own Lead Nurses.

She was nominated by ICU Matron Jo Snow (pictured right) for going above and beyond the call of duty in everything she does - always with patients’ best interests in mind.

Mairead had a great time on the course and got lots of advice from some of the country’s top nurses. She also had the opportunity to take part in a celebration of nursing in Westminster Abbey.

Well done Mairead for doing so well.
