Long service awards went to a total of 64 volunteers (four of whom are KGH Governors) who have together served the hospital for a combined total of more than 400 years.

They received awards for more than five years and more than ten years of service.

KGH volunteers work across the hospital including supporting A&E, the Centenary Wing, hospital wards, and carry out many different kinds of work including Meeting and Greeting people arriving at the hospital, befriending patients, helping patients with eating difficulties and providing a bedside book service.

At the event the awards were presented by Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, Mark Smith, and Chief Executive, Simon Weldon.

The cake was cut by Centenary Wing volunteer Pam Hubbard and patient representative Jenny Dixon who have both done more than 10 years of service.

The event also included a chance for volunteers to receive an introduction to Mindfulness from KGH’s Mindfulness Lead Sarah Fereday.
