Changes to leadership and governance arrangements

The Boards of University Hospitals of Northamptonshire (UHN) and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) have agreed changes to leadership and governance arrangements, which mean we will no longer operate as a Group.
Both UHN and UHL will have their own Board, Chair, Chief Executive and executive team.

The decision reflects the Boards' view that dedicated leadership and stronger local focus will best support the next stage of improvement for patients, colleagues and communities.

UHN and UHL will continue to work together where collaboration benefits patients, services and colleagues. This includes areas where joint working has supported improvement, shared learning and stronger services.

There are no changes to the services patients receive or where they receive care. Day-to-day services and patient pathways will continue as normal.

From 14 August, Andrew Moore, currently Group Chair, will remain Chair of UHN, while Andy Haynes, currently UHL Vice Chair, will become Acting Chair of UHL. Richard Mitchell, currently Group Chief Executive, will remain Chief Executive of UHL. He will continue as CEO and Accountable Officer for UHN until a replacement is appointed.

Both UHN and UHL remain committed to working with partners, colleagues and communities to improve quality, tackle inequalities and deliver sustainable services for the future.
