Endoscopy Unit
Endoscopy Unit provides high quality investigations and procedures, using the latest endoscopic technology for the benefit of the community in North Northamptonshire.
We are also the base for the Northants Bowel Screening team which serves the whole population of Northamptonshire.
Our team comprises of highly trained nurses, nurse associates, healthcare assistants, gastroenterology consultants, surgeons and clinical endoscopists. We also provide training for endoscopists from both Northamptonshire and Leicestershire as part of our regional training academy.
Using a telescopic camera, we are able to see inside the digestive system and lungs to detect abnormalities and provide minimally invasive treatment.
We are proud to be a JAG accredited endoscopy provider. This means that our services have gone through rigorous quality assurance and safety inspections and assessments to ensure that we are delivering the highest standards of care. The Joint Advisory Group for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (JAG) at the Royal College of Physicians affords this accreditation to services nationally, where their standards are met.

What to bring with you
Please bring a list of any medications you may be taking.
You may wish to bring a change of underwear and/or any sanitary products that you usually use. Some people like to bring a dressing gown and slippers, but this is not necessary.
If you have a stoma, please bring extra stoma bags with you.
After the procedure you will be offered a snack, but if you would like to bring a prefered snack you can bring you own.
If you are gluten intolerant or have coeliac’s disease then a gluten free snack will be offered, if you wish to bring some bread that we can toast it for you.
