Measles

Please attend hospital as normal following reported measles case.

In the last few weeks two confirmed measles cases have been linked to Kettering General Hospital.

We are working closely with Public Health England, East Midlands to ensure that anyone who could have been exposed to measles whilst in the hospital is receiving appropriate follow-up.

Members of the public who have appointments at Kettering General Hospital – or need to visit in an emergency - should attend as normal.

Public Health England has seen a rise in the number of measles cases circulating in England in recent months and is urging the public to check if they have had the two doses of MMR vaccine required via their GP surgery – regardless of their age.

Measles typically starts with cold-like symptoms accompanied by sore red eyes, a high temperature and a red-brown blotchy rash.  If you experience these symptoms, please stay at home and phone your GP or NHS 111 for advice, rather than visiting the surgery or hospital to prevent others from being infected.
