Kettering General Hospital’s new East Northamptonshire Outpatients Centre is opening to its first
patients on Monday 7th February 2011.
The Centre – to be called the
Nene Park Outpatients Clinic –was substantially
completed at the end of January with staff moving in and setting up their
equipment this week.
Based in Attley Way next to Rushden and Diamonds
Football Ground, Irthlingborough, the centre will see more than four times as
many outpatients appointments as the previous KGH outpatients clinic at the
Rushden Memorial Clinic in Hayway.
The new centre will see up to 40,000
appointments each year compared to the 8,000 currently seen at Rushden Memorial
Clinic.
This is a much bigger and better facility for both patients and staff
with lots of free car parking and there will be a half-hourly bus service linking
it to Rushden and Higham Ferrers.
We have a large reception area with a tea and coffee bar, a large blood
testing waiting area and five side rooms, five large modern consulting rooms
downstairs and 15 upstairs, an x-ray department, ultrasound, audiology hearing
room, cardiology service, ophthalmology room, and a minor procedures room.
It will also mean some 32,000 less visits to KGH which should help with
car parking on the main site and mean many people living in East
Northamptonshire will now have their outpatient appointments in a centre which
is much closer to their home than Kettering.
The new centre will cover outpatient clinics for medicine, surgery,
orthopaedics, gynaecology, obstetrics, rheumatology, neurology, dermatology,
ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat, urology, paediatrics, cardiology and
respiratory.
