KGH New Site Traffic Plan and Car Parking from 16th Oct

Updated October 2017

We are now half way through our plans to improve car parking and site traffic flows on the KGH site. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience that these works may have caused – by the end of November we expect to have an additional 240 car parking spaces for our visitors and patients.

Site entrance for Patients & Visitors

The main entrance for patients and visitors is from the Telford Way/Rothwell Road roundabout, with a route via Haweswater Road. (Entrance 1)

Ambulances and Emergency Vehicles enter the site from Rothwell Road on the red route.

This is clearly signed with a red tarmacked route running from Rothwell Road to A&E. and is for ambulance/emergency vehicle use. This is expected to improve safety by reducing the risk of emergency ambulances being caught up in queues.

Dropping patients off in front of A&E and Outpatients Department

In an emergency situation, or exceptional circumstances such as where a patient has very limited mobility, drivers may drop off directly outside the outpatients department using the emergency vehicle access route then go and park. Other than emergency vehicles and approved Trust vehicles this will be the only vehicular access allowed to the front of outpatients/A&E and the main entrance – this is to ensure emergency ambulances don’t get caught in queues outside outpatients.

Emergency access route to Rockingham Wing

If you need to access Rockingham Wing in an emergency situation you can now access it via a dedicated route that takes you straight to Rockingham Wing services. Please view the map for further details.
