The Board of Directors approved our Integrated Business Plan (IBP), our Strategic Direction document for the next 5 years, which was submitted to Monitor as part of its successful application to become a Foundation Trust.
The IBP - Vision and Strategy
Kettering General Hospital (KGH) aspires to be an excellent local hospital. The Trust’s strategic aim is:
“to consolidate and develop our position as the secondary care provider of choice for the people of North Northamptonshire and surrounding areas.”
Our Strategic Objectives are to:
-
Retain our position providing a wide range of high quality acute hospital services that are responsive to local need
-
Operate effectively and efficiently (to enable the reinvestment of funds) so that we can continuously improve the services that we deliver and compare well with the best
-
Continually develop our staff expertise and their ability to work with pride and a strong patient focus
-
Work effectively with Commissioners and other providers to ensure appropriate care is provided and in the right setting – “right care, right place, right time”
-
Deliver more services closer to home where it is clinically safe and appropriate to do so.
-
Ensure a clean, pleasant and safe care environment
-
Identify services that are currently provided by other hospitals but which could be provided by us to the benefit of our patients
-
Promote good health through the services we provide
The Integrated Business Plan sets out how these Strategic Objectives will be delivered. Having achieved financial stability, and with steadily improving performance, the Trust is now ready to build on this and progress towards excellence. The next stage of the journey will involve considerable organisational development, and see new services, enhancements to existing services, and investment in buildings and quality. These five years will be exciting ones for KGH, as we become established as the secondary healthcare provider of choice and a benchmark for local hospitals elsewhere.
